About Smoke and Mirrors
Smoke & Mirrors is a South African telenovela created by Loyiso Maqoma that airs on e.tv. Set in the small, corrupt mining town of Emnyameni, the story follows a woman’s quest for revenge after her twin sister is ritually murdered. The story begins when Thandiswa Mseleku, a hairdresser and part-time escort, is visited by the apparition of her murdered twin, Xoliswa. Xoliswa’s spirit tasks Thandiswa with avenging her death and bringing down the “Unholy Trinity”—a group of morally bankrupt men who run the town. Thandiswa moves to Emnyameni to carry out her revenge plot against these powerful and corrupt figures.
